    Study on the Corrosion Inhibition of Mild Steel in 0.5 M H2SO4 Solution by N,N,N-Tributyl-1-butanamaniuiodide

  • Abstract

    The influence of N,N,N-tributyl-1-butanamaniuiodide (TBAI) on the corrosion of mild steel in 0.5M H2SO4 has been studied using techniques such as weight loss, Tafel polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Surfaces were characterized by scanning electron microscopy. Results obtained revealed that TBAI acts as a mixed type inhibitor. The effect of temperature on corrosion inhibition has been studied and activation energies have been evaluated. The adsorption of inhibitor on MS Surface obeys the Langmuir adsorption isotherm equation. Both thermodynamic and kinetic parameters have been obtained by adsorption theory and kinetic equations. The results obtained by Polarization and EIS are in good agreement
