4DescriptionAbstract Transparent and semiconducting Tetra tert-butyl 2,3 naphthalocyanine (TTBNc) thin films are prepared by Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) technique. UV-Visible transmission spectra of TTBNc thin film shows an optical transparency. Electrical conductivity by four probe technique shows its conductivity variation with temperature and i-V graph. Structure and surface morphology of TTBNc are shown by X-ray analysis, scanning electron micrograph and atomic force micrograph. All the studies favor the use of TTBNc glass coatings for diode pumped solid state lasers both in visible and IR region. Temperature and high energy beams come from laser source may cause damage to windows. For TTBNc, both two factors favor the optical transparency and conductivity without much change in its structure and surface morphology. Also naphthalocyanines are class of organic semiconductors, they cause little environmental pollution and carcinogenic diseases like that of inorganic materials.
